There is fresh speculation that the generative AI tool (link here) may launch a pro version that has a monthly charge.
Take-off AI tool ChatGPT is predicted to be “everywhere” in 2023 – but that may not be the case if there is a charge for the generative product. Having gained 1m registered users in just FIVE days with queries costing its operator Open.AI an estimated $3m a momnth to run, something may have to give.
Co-founder and president Greg Brockman is now asking users how much they would pay for a “professional version” of the tool on Twitter. It also invites them to be added to a waiting list for that version! Here it is:

Whether this means that the free tool will become unuseable is not yet known. However, there is clearly a risk or that regular punters end up with a tool that is underdeveloped and not as smart?
